Located along State Highway 42 (Kumarakom–Kambam Road), near Boat Jetty Road on the picturesque backwaters of Kumarakom, Backwater Ripples Kumarakom is one of Kerala’s finest premium resorts for destination weddings. A spacious parking facility welcomes guests upon arrival. From the main entrance, visitors are led directly to the resort’s two banquet venues—Four Square and Centre Court—both designed to host large gatherings with ease. Equipped with banquet seating, tables, and modern event infrastructure, these halls provide excellent flexibility for weddings, conferences, and social events.
For this destination wedding, Melodia Event Management handled the complete event production, including decoration, lighting, power backup, and technical execution. We merged Four Square and Centre Court into one expansive venue, creating a theatre-style seating arrangement in the front while designing an elegant dining space with round tables and premium seating at the rear for the Sangeet celebration.
The client shared one simple but meaningful request:
“Dear Melodia Team, we don’t want even a single guest to stand while having dinner or face the slightest inconvenience. Please treat every guest like your own family and provide them with a truly premium hospitality experience.”
That commitment became the foundation of our entire event planning process.
What was originally a simple conference-style banquet hall was completely transformed into a luxurious wedding venue by Melodia Event Management. The standard banquet chairs with white covers were replaced with elegant natural wood cross-back chairs for the main dining area. Guest seating was enhanced with sleek white chair covers finished with sophisticated gold satin sashes, instantly elevating the ambience.
A beautifully designed floral runner featuring fresh greenery, blush roses, white roses, and delicate seasonal flowers adorned the head table. Elegant gold candle stands with white candles, complemented by modern glass votives, created a warm and romantic atmosphere. Combined with carefully planned lighting, the candlelight beautifully highlighted the gold décor elements throughout the venue. Every detail—from furniture selection to floral styling and lighting—was thoughtfully curated to deliver a truly luxurious experience.
Since the banquet hall features an impressive 16-foot ceiling height, we designed the wedding stage with a carefully planned one-foot platform, maintaining perfect visual proportions within the venue. The stage was decorated using floral shades specifically chosen by the client, resulting in a breathtaking wedding backdrop.
The Haldi ceremony was organised in the beautiful Green Arch, the open lawn area located in front of the banquet hall. Surrounded by lush greenery, this venue proved to be perfect for Haldi celebrations, outdoor dining arrangements, and intimate gatherings. The backwater ripples resort kumarakom is also well-equipped to host outdoor events comfortably, even during the monsoon season.
The following day featured a traditional Hindu wedding attended by approximately 300 guests. The client was initially unsure about the most suitable location within the resort, but our experienced wedding planners confidently recommended the Poolside Event Lawn based on our extensive destination wedding expertise.
The Poolside Lawn features a beautiful traditional Kerala-style wedding mandap, making it one of the resort’s most unique highlights. Unlike most backwater wedding venues, this mandap reflects authentic Kerala architecture with its tiled roof and traditional design. Measuring approximately 5 ft × 5 ft, it is positioned right beside the scenic Vembanad Lake, offering uninterrupted views of houseboats and the tranquil backwaters.
To make the ceremony even more memorable, we arranged the bride and groom’s grand entrance aboard a beautifully decorated houseboat. The combination of the traditional mandap, the spectacular boat entrance, the panoramic backwater backdrop, and the lush green surroundings created a truly magical and unforgettable wedding moment. Witnessing the happiness of the couple became one of Melodia’s proudest achievements.
The wedding reception welcomed an even larger gathering than the ceremony itself. To accommodate the increased guest count comfortably, we selected the resort’s spacious Grand Lawn.
One of the standout features of the reception décor was the lighting design across the entire lawn.
Coconut Tree Lighting Installation: Fairy lights and warm-toned architectural lighting were carefully wrapped around the coconut trees and palm trees throughout the lawn, transforming the entire venue into a glowing evening landscape. Against the cool breeze of Vembanad Lake, the illuminated trees created a magical atmosphere that captivated every guest.
Reception Stage Design: The main reception stage was positioned to maximise the breathtaking views of the backwaters. Rich floral architecture combined with warm spotlights created a premium and elegant stage that perfectly complemented the natural surroundings.
After the successful completion of the wedding, the client personally called our team and shared these heartfelt words:
