The Basilica Platinum Jubilee Hall, popularly known as Puthenpally Parish Hall, is one of the most popular venues in the very heart of Thrissur, Kerala. Managed by the Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours Church, this historic hall is priced at around 4,500 sq. ft. and occupies 1,000 persons; it is well suited for weddings, receptions, and grand gatherings. The parking space is allotted for 60 cars. It provides convenience to the congregation. Setting Up the Stage & Backdrops: The venue’s built-in elevated stage is deep and wide, making it exceptionally stable for supporting heavy traditional stage backdrops, multi-tier frames, or wide LED walls. Because the stage features permanent crimson and gold drapery, our design team selects background flower palettes and decor panels that complement these specific tones. To protect the hall’s structure, we always use self-supporting backdrop frameworks that stand independently on the stage floor without drilling into the venue’s walls.
Managing Sound Acoustics: The upper hall features long, parallel concrete walls which can naturally cause sound to bounce and echo if audio equipment is misplaced. To keep wedding vows, speeches, and background music perfectly clear, Melodia Event Management places heavy fabric curtains or decorative partitions near the rear of the hall to absorb excess sound. We direct all speakers to face the guest seating rows directly, keeping the audio crisp and readable throughout the deep room.

To prevent the main stage from looking flat or washed out in wedding videos, we use the venue’s separate control switches to dim the main hall lights slightly while layering warm spots onto the couple. This simple operational adjustment eliminates harsh glare on fine silks and traditional gold jewelry, ensuring natural-looking family photographs.
Camera Tracking & View Angles: The rectangular, clear-span shape of the upper floor makes it easy to position video cameras, cranes, and straight-line tracking sliders down the main aisle without blocking guest views. For overhead video work, operators keep a safe clearance path away from hanging decor elements, like traditional hanging flower canopies, allowing us to capture smooth wide shots of the crowd with the iconic church towers visible through the windows.
Coordinating Two-Level Guest Flow: Since the venue splits operations across two distinct floors, managing crowd movement is essential. Melodia utilizes the ground-floor lobby as the primary welcome and greeting zone. Hostesses guide arriving guests up to the first floor via the twin staircases or passenger lift for the main ceremony. While the function happens upstairs, the catering team prepares the ground-floor dining hall for 500 guests simultaneously, keeping all food aromas and kitchen service noise completely isolated from the main stage program.
