Divya and Vinay, busy professionals based in Bangalore, came to Melodia Event Management, Thrissur, with a clear idea: an intimate traditional Kerala-style destination wedding in Kerala at Niraamaya Samroha, Athirappilly, a venue they had already chosen. They wanted a two-day celebration with Haldi and Sangeet on the first day and the wedding on the second.
Most of their guests were travelling from abroad, so the couple also wanted the celebrations to introduce guests to Kerala’s cultural traditions, including Chenda Melam, Mohiniyattam and Kathakali. With demanding work schedules, they had limited time for planning calls, so our planners made the most of each conversation, focusing on their preferences and expectations and turning them into a practical, workable plan.
Niraamaya Samroha was not a new venue for us. Melodia had already conducted events at the resort and at other locations around Athirappilly, so we knew the layout and the logistical requirements first-hand.
The resort sits above the wedding area, giving a view of the whole celebration space below, with the Chalakudy River and surrounding greenery beyond. That setting is the venue’s biggest strength, but it also shapes how an event must be planned. Access to the venue involves a sloped route, which means experienced drivers, careful material movement and advance coordination.
Material transport. We arranged a logistics team experienced in handling event materials at challenging venues. The team collected material details in advance and planned movement to reduce repeat trips along the slope and make the best use of the available setup time.
Tourist traffic. The wedding fell in August, and routes towards Athirappilly, Vazhachal, Malakkapara and Valparai see tourist traffic. We factored this into timing and guest movement.
Temple-to-resort transition. The thalikettu ceremony took place at Vadakkumnathan Temple, Thrissur. Our Thrissur team handled the temple booking and ceremony arrangements, then coordinated the transition to the resort, keeping the rest of the celebrations and the travel conditions in mind.
An August wedding in Kerala calls for a rain plan. We presented two options for the open-air setup: a transparent tent or a pagoda. After discussing both, Divya and Vinay chose the pagoda, and we planned the arrangements around it.
On the wedding morning there was no rain, so the celebration went ahead in the open-air setting the couple had hoped for.

Guests stayed across both venues, and Melodia coordinated movement between the temple and the two resorts so the schedule ran smoothly.
We built an open-air wedding stage so that the Chalakudy River and the green landscape formed the natural backdrop. The stage added to the occasion without taking attention away from the setting.
Divya and Vinay’s entry through a shower of flower petals was one of the day’s most memorable moments. The petal entry, open stage and river view together created the atmosphere the couple had described to us at the start.
