One of our most heart-warming projects at Abaam Tharavadu was a wedding that bridged 2,500 kilometers. The groom, rooted in the traditions of Kerala, and the bride, bringing the spirited energy of Punjab, wanted a celebration that honored both.
The First Impression I still remember the look on the bride’s family’s faces when they first stepped through the Padippura (gateway). Coming from the bustling cities of the North, they described the silence and the architecture of the Nalukettu as “purely magical.” The wooden pillars and the open sky above the Nadumuttam (courtyard) provided a sense of peace they hadn’t found in any modern convention hall.
The Golden Haldi For the Haldi ceremony, we decided to let the venue’s heritage speak for itself. We filled antique brass Urulis with marigolds and arranged them around the central courtyard. As the sun shifted across the open roof, the natural light hit the yellow decor, creating a glow that no studio light could ever match. Seeing the vibrant Punjabi songs echo through the traditional Kerala corridors was a reminder of why we love being event planners—it was a beautiful collision of two worlds.
Seamless Coordination While the setting was ancient, the logistics had to be modern. With the 5 on-site AC rooms serving as the “command center” for the bride’s immediate family, we coordinated additional stays in nearby Mala and managed guest shuttles like clockwork.
The Verdict By the time the Sadhya was served in the afternoon and the Bhangra began in the evening, Abaam Tharavadu didn’t just feel like a venue; it felt like a home that had belonged to both families for generations. It wasn’t just a wedding we managed; it was a story we helped tell.
