In orchestrating this event, our primary focus was to highlight and complement the intrinsic beauty of the venue itself. Situated within a sprawling 20-acre lakeside resort in Kodimatha, the Ettukettu pavilion is a spectacular structure meticulously designed to replicate the grandeur of an ancient Kerala traditional ancestral home (tharavadu). The heavy, intricately crafted wooden pillars, the classic tiled sloping roof, and, above all, the open central courtyard (nadumittam) provide a visual backdrop that no modern banquet hall can match. Enveloped by a cool, continuous breeze from the nearby backwaters of Vembanad Lake and framed by lush tropical greenery, the venue possessed a natural, breathtaking aesthetic that required no heavy artificial enhancements.
When our team began prepping the venue, we established a strict creative boundary: the ancient heritage charm of the Ettukettu must remain completely uncompromised. To achieve this, we laid a grand, deep-red royal designer carpet along the entire length of the walkway leading from the main entrance to the pavilion. On either side of this path, we staged magnificent brass traditional lamps (nilavilakku), finely crafted bronze Ganesha idols, traditional vessels, and towering golden flower vases. The moment guests stepped onto the pathway, they were immediately enveloped in the grand, welcoming atmosphere of a royal estate.
To engage the arriving guests, we curated a specialized cultural interactive corner on one side of the Ettukettu courtyard. Atop a vintage wooden table, we arranged a traditional hand-mirror (valkannadi), a chest overflowing with vibrant glass bangles, a classic brass spouted vessel (kindi), and clusters of fresh jasmine flowers that infused the air with a nostalgic, soulful fragrance. This instantly became the most popular and highly photographed spot for the wedding attendees.
The wedding mandapam, stationed at the absolute heart of the open central courtyard, was beautifully adorned with a dense arrangement of premium red and white roses. From the crisp white fabric ceiling above, delicate floral garlands hung down gracefully. We arranged elegant golden chairs in a structured perimeter around the space. As the auspicious ceremony commenced, a soothing lakeside breeze swept through the open architecture, and the natural daylight softly descended into the central courtyard, illuminating the joyful faces of the bride and groom—a picture-perfect moment captured beautifully by our cameras.
To elevate the destination wedding experience, we coordinated traditional art forms of Kerala, including Kathakali and Mohiniyattam performances, to welcome the wedding party. Moving to the rhythmic beats of traditional percussion and flanked by ladies holding ceremonial welcome lamps (thaalappoli), the bridal party walked up to the grand portico of the Ettukettu.
