The Melodia Event Management team recently went on a journey to the peaceful surroundings of Kumbalangi, India’s first model tourism village. Escaping from the busy life of Kochi, our trip was in search of a new location for those who dream of planning a wedding or party close to nature. Here, we are sharing both our direct experience of visiting ‘Kumbalangi Blue Waves’, a celebration venue set amidst the beauty of backwaters and Chinese fishing nets, along with the heartwarming memories of a dream wedding we beautifully organized there under our leadership.
Moving away from the artificial atmosphere of crowded air-conditioned halls in the city, Melodia fulfilled the wishes of the bride, groom, and their families for a destination wedding connected with nature on the shores of Kumbalangi.
As the Melodia team entered through the Kumbalangy Blue Waves gates, we were welcomed by a huge green lawn beside the backwaters. This outdoor space can accommodate around 400 guests at a time. Coconut trees leaning towards the lake and the beautiful sunsets that paint the sky in the evenings felt like one of the biggest highlights of this venue.
We were able to transform this vast lawn into a magical celebration space. Under Melodia’s leadership, the festivities began a day before the wedding itself. In the golden light of the setting sun, our decoration team arranged the Haldi-Mehendi venue facing directly towards the backwaters. Decorated with yellow and white flowers, the open lawn turned festive as the bride, groom, and their friends danced along with the live music arranged by Melodia.
The main ceremony took place the next morning. The Melodia team created a simple yet extremely beautiful outdoor mandap facing the backwaters. The gentle waves of the lake and the cool breeze flowing through the coconut leaves became the perfect backdrop for the auspicious moment. Accompanied by traditional chenda melam, when our coordination team escorted the bride and groom to the mandap, the entire scene created by nature and Melodia’s décor together rivaled even a movie set.
Another major attraction of Kumbalangy Blue Waves, according to us, is its stay facilities. Two different accommodation units are arranged here for guests to relax and enjoy the cool backwater breeze at night. Altogether, 10 people can stay here comfortably and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
A-Frame Cottage: This is a visually charming cottage with a rustic look that instantly attracts attention. Perfect for Instagram reels and photos, this room can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people.
Secondary Stay Unit: The second unit, equipped with modern facilities, can accommodate 4 people.
The bride and groom’s preparations and photoshoot took place inside this A-Frame Cottage. The indoor pictures captured by Melodia’s photography team against the rustic wooden interiors of the cottage, along with the couple portraits later taken on the lawn beside the backwaters, turned out exceptionally beautiful. This cottage truly serves as an excellent background for wedding shoots.
Melodia had also arranged stay facilities in the cottage and nearby unit for the bride and groom’s close relatives from the previous day itself. Because of this, they were able to attend the ceremonies in a relaxed manner without the tiredness of long-distance travel. Our wedding planning team believes there could hardly be a better place for couples or close family members attending a wedding to stay together comfortably.
The venue is very easily accessible by road. There is a parking space inside the resort itself for around 15 vehicles to park safely. In addition, if more vehicles arrive, parking can also be arranged conveniently along the nearby roadside.
Since Melodia had a dedicated coordination team present on the wedding day, we were able to manage parking and guest coordination very smoothly without any confusion or crowding.
Melodia arranged the dining area for guests on the spacious lawn itself. The wedding feast prepared by Melodia’s catering team, featuring local backwater delicacies like Karimeen Pollichathu and Prawn Fry along with traditional dishes, offered guests a truly unique culinary experience.
By evening, the entire lawn was illuminated with fairy lights arranged by Melodia’s illumination team. With the night sky reflecting over the backwaters and our live acoustic band performing in the background, the wedding reception became a magical celebration, bringing Melodia’s Kumbalangi wedding project to a beautiful and successful conclusion.
